HotNewHipHop:

A chopped and screwed remix of NYC activist/emcee AWKWORD’s “Requiem” by Slim K Slowdown, a rising artist from OG Ron C‘s crew. The original production was handled by ATG, with guest vocals from Ess Vee, SoulStice, CuzOH! Black, Australia’s Jay Daniels and Grindhouse Gang’s Mark Deez. Zone out.

KevinNottingham:

I’m going to let the Certified fresH music speak for itself! We get the Slim K Slowdown Chopped & Screwed remix of AWKWORD’s “Requiem” featuring SoulStice, Ess Vee and CuzOH! Black and lets just say that this one will be in rotation for a while to come and will definitely make it to The Certified fresH Jumpoff next Thursday. Hit play mufucka.

HipHopGame:

Our fam Awkword drops some new heat produced by the homie ATG featuring dope verses from SoulStice, Ess Vee, and CuzOh! Black.

YourStrongestAlly:

If you’re looking for a dirty party track, look no further than AWKWORD‘s latest release, “Requiem.” The drug anthem, produced by ATG, features verses from Ess Vee, SoulStice and CuzOH!, marking it a 3-minute track full of heat and underground talent. Not to mention the chopped and screwed instrumental courtesy of Slim K, from OG Ron C’s crew.

Loon, Crane & Heron:

Awkword is back and flexing that artistic diversity muscle with the remix to his popular drug anthem ‘Requiem’. Per usual, Awkword shows off his awareness and conscientiousness as a rapper and human; the track speaks on the dark truths of the drug culture. This chopped and screwed version plays on the ever popular new-school trill sound that’s been all over the game lately and illustrates the diversity of Awkword’s style and craft. This track is definitely worth a play or three, and we’re forever fucking with the homie. His philanthropy combined with lyrical talent and social awareness make Awkword one of more progressive artists on the rise right now. We’re crazy excited for his upcoming DJ Booth presented “Worldview”.

Keep doing your thing, man. Perpetual props from the flock.

AWKWORD Requiem art by GhettoManga

The love/hate relationship between drugs and hiphop culture is long and complicated. With the influence that mollies and promethazine syrup have on popular rap, Awkword decided it was a good time to drop this “sarcastic pro-drug-slash-drug-PSA song” The Requiem…

Even though I was always surrounded by drugs and alcoholism growing up, I was never in danger of using myself. Even when I have enjoyed music that glorified drug use, I always interpreted drug use as being more trouble than it was worth, and indulged my drug rap habit on a metaphorical level. Very few times did people try to get me to try drugs, and when they did, they found me to be immune to peer pressure. I was always very comfortable being the sober comics nerd in the party.

Anyways, we have Slim K to thank for this “purple-ized” remix. Click here to cop it on soundcloud.

COBoredom:

Slim K slows down Awkword’s “Requiem” and takes ATG’s production to a whole ‘nother level.

HipHopFeeling:

I’ve been feeling a lot of chopped & screwed remixes lately and this is no exception. AWKWORD puts a dope twist on his cut with SoulStice, Ess Vee & CuzOH! Black.

EmceeEnthusiast:

ATG is a fuckin’ genius with these beats mane. OG Ron C’s crew member Slim K4 chops & screws AWKWORD’s daunting drug anthem “Requiem”, featuring guest verses from Ess Vee, as well as SoulStice & CuzOH! Black, and a sing-along hook led by AWKWORD, with backup vocals from Ess Vee, Australia’s Jay Daniels & Grindhouse Gang’s Mark Deez. Also, be on the look out as AWKWORD has the visual to “Requiem” in the works. Stay tuned. Very dope.

Fashionably-Early:

Awkword is the next victim of a chopped & screwed version for OG Ron C. This is that realness with an added teaspoon of banger sentiment.

No-Buzz.net:

New dopeness from Awkword.

SoloVibesMusic:

Awkword always comes correct with the exclusive joints that he puts together… Check It!!

Str8OutDaDen:

Nothing like another AWKWORD record to keep the culture moving forward. Relax and Listen!
